Save-the-Date Cards

Sending save-the-date cards in advance of your invitations is a wonderful way to announce your wedding date and location to your family and friends who you want to be sure will be able to attend your wedding. They should be mailed six to eight months prior to your wedding date, depending on whether you are having a destination wedding or you have many guests who will need to make travel arrangements.

Your save-the-date card should contain the following information:
 

• Your names

Use the names by which your guests know both of you rather than your formal names to ensure they recognize from whom the card is coming.

• The date and time

Be sure to use the exact date and time of your wedding and reception so guests can plan their schedules and travel arrangements accordingly.

• The location

Do include the exact location so your guests can begin to plan their travel arrangements as needed.

• Your wedding website

If you have a website for your big day which contains additional information about your wedding and arrangements, you should provide the web address.
